High blood pressure is the number one risk factor for strokes. Glow Sauna Studios uses Sunlighten-manufactured technology, which are the ONLY infrared saunas backed by clinical research that shows a reduction in systolic and diastolic blood pressure…key to maintaining a healthy heart!

A clinical study done by University of Missouri Kansas City shows that Sunlighten’s Solocarbon heaters lower blood pressure with just three, thirty-minute sessions a week. This study also helps with two other high-risk stroke factors – obesity and artery disease. While infrared saunas are beneficial for lowering blood pressure, it also improves the cardiovascular system along with respiratory problems by opening capillaries to improve blood flow.

If you believe you have high blood pressure or are at risk of a stroke, take this Stroke Risk Quiz and talk to your doctor. And while combating those risks, book an infrared wellness session at Glow Sauna Studios!

Get your most common questions answered here!

Q: How do saunas assist in weight loss?

A: The manufacturer of Glow’s saunas, Sunlighten, has proven through clinical studies that their technology aids in weight loss. The infrared heats your body’s core temperature by three degrees, inducing sweat. The rising of your core temperature results in increasing blood flow and heart rate. This is a similar experience to moderate exercise, which helps you lose weight. Saunas help ease muscle aches and pains, while also aiding in weight loss and getting your muscles ready for your next workout.

Q: How many calories am I burning in a sauna?

A: We all know weight loss is a process…there is no magic pill to give us exactly what we want. There are many factors when it comes to losing weight, and doing it in a healthy manner. You have to factor in your current weight, exercise routine and calorie and macro consumption. Sunlighten’s clinical studies have shown infrared sauna sessions burn as much as 600 calories, which would be similar to jogging for an hour at your local gym.

Q: Why an Infrared sauna vs. traditional sauna?

A: Traditional saunas (dry and wet) heat the air around you, not your direct core matter. This causes a sweat to break, but any weight loss is only from water weight. These traditional saunas also tend to be very uncomfortable, with the overbearing heat making it difficult to breathe. On the other hand, Glow’s infrared saunas heat your direct core matter to induce a sweat with no conventional heat. This results in a higher detoxifying sweat that you can enjoy longer, allowing you to sweat more and continue burning more calories.

Q: What can I do for weight loss during a session?

A: During your Glow session, there are a few ways to enhance your weight loss. You could practice hot yoga, as working on flexibility also increases your caloric burn and promotes a better night’s sleep. Even just a slight bit of stretching would help raise your core temperature a little bit more, which burns more calories. There is also the option of taking advantage of our 3-in-1 weight loss program, a pre-set program that uses a combination of far and mid infrared at a higher intensity to stimulate the cardiovascular system.

Let’s be honest, skin care can get expensive. Purchasing designer creams, cleaners and lotions add up quick, but we are human and breakouts don’t judge or care what important event we have the next day! Have you been looking for something that gives you a sense of recovery and relaxation, while giving you flawless and glowing skin? Walk in to Glow Sauna Studios!

Skin problems normally stem from an internal source. Hormonal imbalances, immune system issue, genetic influences, stress…these all can be reasons your body is producing acne and blemishes. The issue might occur from an outside source such as an allergic reaction or exposure to something in the environment.

With so many acne influencers, it may be hard to maintain a beautiful complexion and glowing skin.

This is where infrared sauna science meets glowing skin!

Glowing Skin

Infrared saunas for skin care has been all the rage for celebrities these days! Celebrities have now been name dropping Sunlighten technology for their ageless skin care secrets. Well now, you don’t have to be a celebrity to have access to this raving technology! Simply book your Glow Sauna session.

How is Glow the Key?

Unlock the benefits of having access to the full infrared spectrum. In just a 30 to 40-minute session, you will notice your skin looks more radiant and healthy. When using a 3-in-1 infrared sauna, you get access to near, mid and far infrared rays which will offer you way more than just radiant skin.

As the warmth from the infrared exposure induces a sweat, your body releases toxins, pushing out impurities from your pores, resulting in beautiful, healthy and glowing skin.

Love the skin you’re in

You skin is a representation of you! Skin is a reflection of your state of health. An unhealthy lifestyle causes signs of early aging, skin discoloration and build-up of toxins that produce black heads and acne. On the healthy lifestyle, you break out less and your skin has a natural, beautiful tone with smaller, cleaner pores. Remember to take care of yourself after every Glow session, replenishing electrolytes and drinking plenty of water! Remaining hydrated will help your skin sweat out more toxins, keep your skin healthier and allow it to have more elasticity.

Daily Exposure to Heavy Metal Toxins

We are exposed to heavy metal toxins in our everyday routine, from the environment we live in to the foods we consume. It is important to beware of common heavy metals that are known to cause damage. Ultimately, every day it is up to ourselves to choose our own healthy living styles.

Mercury is a common toxin found in many forms, from dental fillings to seafood. When mercury is consumed, it is stored in the kidneys, blood, brain, bones and fatty tissue. Mercury is commonly found in fish, so you’ll want to monitor your intake moderation.

A toxic metal that causes problems in the brain. Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease have been related to the amount of aluminum accumulation in the brain. Like other heavy toxins, aluminum consumed is stored in the kidneys and brain, along with the lungs, thyroid and liver. Unfortunately, the exposure to aluminum is as easy as drinking water and breathing air. Although it is very easy to be exposed to, it is also a toxin that leaves the body quickly and naturally.

One of the most well-known toxins that we normally associate with older homes, paint, and unpurified drinking water. Thankfully, from knowledge gained over the years, regulations have been made to reduce this problem. According to the CDC, at least 4 million households are exposed to high levels of lead affecting nearly every system in the human body.

How Infrared helps rid your body of Heavy Metal Toxins

Glow offers Sunlighten technology.  Both the mPulse Cabin and the SOLO Pod offer far infrared, which significantly increases the detoxification process. Far infrared is the longest wave that penetrates to the core of your body, increasing the core temperature and heating the muscle tissue several inches deep inducing a deep detoxifying sweat.

We are human. We use a lot of energy by not allowing ourselves to sweat the small stuff in life. We worry constantly, we stress about life, and we hold tension like the weight of the world is on our shoulders. In the grand scheme of things, we are not putting our health or ourselves first. Even though it feels like we would have to make massive changes to be healthier, it’s really all about starting small!

Making smaller life changes can develop habits to a better and healthier you! Here are some examples of developing small habits that will benefit you overall.

  1. Goal Overload

Ever notice we set BIG goals for the year, and in that overall goal we have many simultaneous little goals? For example, being in the best shape for summer. Then we load too many little goals to get there, like hitting the gym 3-4x a week, eating healthier, taking stairs instead of the elevator, etc. Each of those should be their own small separate goal to focus on for at least 21 days to build the habit.

  1. Chug, Chug, Chug…Water!

Hydrating is very important. Our bodies are created with 65% water…we need to stay hydrated for our body to function. During an infrared sauna session, better hydration allows you a better sweat and helps your body flush out toxins. The more water, the more detoxifying sweat!

  1. When in doubt, sweat it out

Doing 2-3 Glow sessions a week keeps your body energized, healing and moving! Reap multiple benefits from living this hot and healthy lifestyle! Sweating is the body’s natural way of detoxifying and keeping a balance of health and wellness.

  1. Self-care

Even if your to-do list is a mile long, sometimes you just need to re-fuel your body. In order for your body to run properly and avoid illness, we need to shut down and reboot from time to time. Whether it’s learning something new, lighting candles and soaking in a hot bath, or shutting down in an infrared sauna. Th

ere are millions of ways to recharge, even if it’s just for 10 minutes. Try to add it in daily.

  1. Balanced Diet

Your health is 80% diet and 20% exercise, so there is no outrunning a bad diet. Make sure you are pumping your body with the nutrition it needs. Meet your daily protein, carbs, fats and fibers, cut back on sugar and processed food, and drink more water!

Infrared Wavelengths

Glow Sauna Studios is the first and only company to offer Sunlighten’s 3-in-1 Solocarbon technology to the Dallas metroplex!

Now exactly what does 3-in-1 mean to you? It means that you will receive pulsing exposure to all three infrared wavelengths in just one session! The three waves – Near, Mid, and Far – each have their own benefits that release in your body naturally when you sweat in the sauna, all thanks to the advanced technology created and patented by Sunlighten.

How does Glow Infrared Stand Out?

There are many studios claiming they use “full spectrum” infrared. We are here to tell you not all infrared machines are created equally. While others make this statement, they normally just have one or two wavelengths that function simultaneously. Glow will be the only true full spectrum offering you Near, Mid, and Far wavelengths that will have a specific pulsing pattern to give you the best exposure to all three waves in just one session. Because Glow only uses infrared to create the heat – no conventional heat whatsoever – you can have your phone, laptop, and ice-cold water in our machines. The 3-in-1 infrared is only going to heat up your direct core matter…other businesses will tell you to leave any technology out of the saunas.

Infrared Wave Breakdown

Near Infrared (NIR)

This is the shortest infrared wavelength that penetrates the skin’s surface. NASA has studied Near infrared wavelengths for promoting faster wound healing, reducing inflammation and cell regeneration. If that was not enough, studies have shown that NIR assists in anti-aging and natural collagen production.

Mid Infrared (MIR)

Longer then the Near wavelength, the Mid wavelength penetrates deeper into the body’s soft tissue, where inflammation occurs. Helping reduce inflammation allows the Mid wavelength to increase blood and oxygen circulation, resulting in reducing pain and speeding the healing process.

Far Infrared (FIR)

The longest wavelength, Far infrared reaches the deepest into the body, where toxins are stored. FIR raises core body temperature and stimulates sweat glands, allowing your body to have a deep, detoxifying sweat. It’s also linked to weight loss, as it raises your core temperate by 3 degrees and increases your heart rate. This cardiac output burns more calories trying to cool your body off, and aids in lowering systolic and diastolic blood pressure.

Benefits of Sunlighten’s mPulse 3-in-1®Sauna Providing Near Infrared Therapeutic Healing

It’s Fibromyalgia Awareness Month!

Fibromyalgia is a debilitating chronic illness that affects the entire body. It causes painfully sore joints, tendons and muscles, and also triggers fatigue, stiffness, insomnia and headaches. Individuals who suffer from this disease are searching for relief from these symptoms, including in non-pharmaceutical ways. One of the most popular alternatives is regular use of infrared sauna therapy.

Pain Relief

“For centuries healthcare providers have used topical heat to relieve minor aches and pains, but today we are just beginning to understand the full range of therapeutic benefits that heat offers,” said pain expert Peter Vicente, Ph.D., past president of the American Pain Society and Clinical Health Psychologist. “Through new clinical research, we have found that heat activates complex neurological, vascular and metabolic mechanisms to mediate the transmission of pain signals and effectively provide relief for a variety of pain conditions.” Infrared heat from Glow’s saunas can do just that!

Increasing Circulation

A benefit of infrared therapy is the improvement of heart health. The heat from the infrared aids in raising the heart rate to cool the body off, which sends more blood to your cells. This improved circulation helps relieve the inflammation and stiff joints that is associated with fibromyalgia. The heat also relieves tension in the body, dissipating headaches.

If you are a chronic pain sufferer or know someone who is, come in to Glow Sauna Studios and relieve your symptoms! If you are looking for local support or treatment, please reach out to any of these associations listed below.

May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month

More than 30 thousand Americans are diagnosed with Lyme disease each year. Typically, this starts when the weather is getting warmer, occurring from a simple tick bite. The disease triggers fatigue, arthritis, body ache and pains, and weakens the immune system.

The creator of Glow’s sauna technology, Sunlighten, worked hard to understand these devastating effects. Sunlighten worked with people diagnosed with Lyme disease, and discovered that including infrared therapy into their treatment regimen was greatly beneficial in multiple ways.

Far infrared is the longest wavelength the penetrates through skin and muscle tissue, all the way to the body’s core. This gives the body the deepest detox, and aids the immune system in becoming stronger. Infrared helps the cells in your body remove chemicals and heavy metals out of your body, released through your skin.

According to Donna Zaken, RN, MSN, APRN, at Integrative Center for Chronic Diseases in Providence, RI, “Heavy metals and chemicals deplete your immune system, which makes it a perfect breeding ground for infections. Another way that far infrared saunas work is by raising your core body temperature, which, in turn helps kill bacteria and viruses that may be living in your body.” Zaken doesn’t only help heal others, but she suffers from Lyme disease herself.

If you or anyone you know has been diagnosed with Lyme disease, there are local associations to turn to for answers, support and treatment. Some well-known associations in North Texas are Texas Lyme Disease Association and North Texas Lyme, which has monthly groups focusing on providing education and support to those affected with Lyme disease.

Spring into Wellness!

Every year Spring comes around like a reality check. We start looking for some healthy inspiration knowing there is still time to get into better shape for summer. Getting back to a healthy routine is a difficult task for many of us. Here are some healthy tips to get you started!

  • Find a program that helps you with accountability. A group fitness program where you have to pr
  • e-schedule, or schedule gym time with a friend (you wouldn’t want to let them down!). This will motivate you when you lack the inspiration.

  • Track your progress. Whether it is inches or weight, set a goal and track it. Seeing progress is the biggest motivation! There are tons of free apps to use, like MyFitnessPal.
    • Find a wearable fitness tracker to keep you moving! Most of them challenge you to hit a certain step goal, obtain a specific number of minutes of exercise, and challenge friends.

Preventing Injury

  • Nothing is more frustrating than getting in a healthy routine and incurring an injury due to poor form or lack of recovery. It feels like one step forward and then two steps back.

  • Working out too much? Yes, there is such a thing! Lifting weights too often or excessive cardio can be counter-productive. Your muscles need recovery time to repair and let the lactic acid buffer out. If you constantly workout the same muscle groups or do not take any days off, you are prepping your body for an injury.
  • Watch your form and know how to properly execute the exercise. Improper form can lead to pain, aches, injury and ultimately discouragement.
  • Stretch and rest! When you are building muscle, keep in mind you are also breaking it down. Resting helps muscles recover so they can be broken down again. Stretch to get the flexibility and elasticity back in the muscles.

Sweat It Out

  • Stay hydrated, drink water to fuel your body.
  • Book a Glow Wellness session. By relaxing in Glow Sauna Studio’s SOLO Pod or mPulse Cabin, you will detoxify the body and accelerate healing and muscle recovery. In addition, you’ll leave feeling rejuvenated.
  • Stretch during your Glow wellness session. A study conducted at Auburn University at Montgomery shows that stretching in a Sunlighten sauna can increase flexibility by 3x!
